Its time to get caught up again and here are a few of my favorites since the last quick list!
23 Songs for July!
KATSEYE
Don't come at me. I listened to KATSEYE before I knew anything about them and have played "Touch" a million times. I really like "Internet Girl" so its on the list.
Charly Bliss
I still haven't listened to any of their other music but "Westermarck" and "Calling You Out" have tapped into the Mallrats portion of my brain. "I wanna be the one to love you, not calling you out" can be taken different ways, but for me it hits home because I'm overly critical of everything despite wanting to be the person that just loves and supports the people around me.
the booyah! kids
"Paralyzed" came across my radar and I find myself letting it play every time it comes on. My brain really doesn't like the band name but that's none of my business.

"Wired" is a dream electronic track that I also don't skip when it comes on shuffle. I feel like I've listened to other songs but this is the one I have had on my playlist this year and warrants looking into the rest of their songs.

"Work" was an immediate skip for my partner when it came on in the car but I like it a lot. If you really want to get the full experience, put on the youtube video and also play it on a streaming service at the same time but slightly off time from each other.
Sam Short
"forgot to forget me" is really the perfect song for this website. "You've been so busy tryna upset me that you forgot you forgot to forget me" is such a great chorus.
METTE
All musicians are artists but some are fine artists. METTE is in the latter category. "ANXIOUS TO LOVE YOU" and METTE's dance/video is 10/10.
moody joody
"Loretta's Last Call" is a jangly, yearning song that has the effortless feel that only comes with talent/experience. Perfect, no notes.
TEHYA
Indigenous baddie with a flawless R&B/pop song calling out "americans"? What's not to love?
Slayyyter
Making a comeback with people who have never heard of them and the rest of us alike, "Brittany Murphy." from their new album "WOR$T GIRL IN AMERICA" has been making the rounds for good reason.

If you also have been obsessed with girlypop country Sabrina Carpenter songs lately, "Bullet" is for you!
Seven Lions / Lights
I have been following Lights on TikTok for a while and "Stop Thinking" popped up recently and has had a lot of ear time. I'm not familiar with Seven Lions but this collab with Lights is perfection.
Susanah Joffe
"You Ruined Paris" is such a great retro style song without being cheesy or pretentious. They nailed the vibe with the instruments, drum beat, backing vocals, everything.
Kid Sistr
Apparently their label wouldn't let them use certain lyrics in this song so it became "Boys in Skirts" instead but I think that's perfect. I can't listen to this without wiggling around.
Avalon Emerson
"Jupiter and Mars" starts off sounding like you're going to hear pretentious indie guy music from 2012 that you like despite how much you hate the band, but then you immediately hear the angelic voice and the gorgeous synths kick in and well just listen to it.
Audrey Hobert
The first song I heard from Audrey was "Bowling Alley" which was ok but kind of got lost in the mix of my yearly playlist. Then I made my way to "Sue Me" and "Silver Jubilee" and they have made their way into the daily rotation. "Ima tell my sister she's perfect, Ima live it up like my life starts now".
Freya Skye
Freya if you ever read this article I need that shirt you posted that I can't find anywhere now. I haven't had a chance to listen to her latest album yet but "golden boy" is a good indicator that I should. I also really like "silent treatment".
Lyncs
There have been a few songs I've come across like "Purple Light" over the years and I love all of them. The lyrics do a good job of expressing the disillusionment that we have all experienced becoming "adults".
Maya J'an
I was mesmorized by the TikTok post and music for her latest "new june". The lyrics are beautiful, the music is music box pretty, and her voice is urgent, delicate and cutting all at once.
Ninajirachi & daine
"Its You" is a great semi-glitch electro pop that makes my little brain happy every time I hear the driving synths and the "Need you to pick me up I, spin me around in your lies" vocals.
We Did It Girl!
