Simplicity is not a sign of inexperience or lack of ability, it takes skill and talent to make something that's simple, minimalist, and good. The following artists get the concept of keeping things simple but conveying emotion and their vision without the excess and clutter.
22 songs from six different artists

Devon Gabriella
I was hooked on the first two seconds of "Crash and Burn" before her vocals came in and finished the job. I have included the three pre-release songs from her upcoming November album titled "All at Once" and I love all three.

Annika Wells
My first intro to Annika was "bathwater" which lured me into with the urgent but rambling intro to the brilliant chorus. It sort of reminds me of "Dig" by Barry but is definitely all its own. I have also included "carrot cake" and "what a time" from her latest album that came out in January.

Me As A Girl
Someone posted a video with this song on TikTok a few days after I found it and their caption was "This is what it sounds like in my brain". This is what I wish my brain sounded like inside. The sparkling, minimalist nostalgia is fantastic and actually has a key change. I also included all but one song from their EP.

Cauley
I came across their 2024 single "BIRCH" first, and then was pleasantly surprised by the "i saw the sky open up" EP when I checked out their other music today. Like the previous artist, I have included basically the whole EP because I liked it all. Also like the Me As A Girl EP, the opening track is 30s long.

Jazzie Young
"Dreamy" is probably overused when describing things, so lets say "misty morning in fall with a cup of hot (beverage of your choice) on a porch overlooking (view of your choice)" instead to describe the soundscape of Jazzie's "It Could Be Good". I have included the less foggy but equally beautiful "Small Hours" as well.

Empress Of
I have been a fan of Empress Of since 2016 with "Woman Is a Word" and I was recently reminded she exists with the "Hands On" EP from this year. The mastery of sounds and production value is off the charts. Her music is powerful, catchy, and fully immerses you from the start. I have included some of my favorites over the years but definitely dive deeper on your own here!
We Did It Girl!
I don't know how to really describe this playlist so instead of letting it sit here until I think of something profound, I'll just post it and I hope you enjoy it!
