You can't get fully ready for summer unless you get a little childhood trauma unpacked and a little crying in the car over the thought that, if something happened to you, your dog or cat wouldn't know why you were gone.
15 song playlist

Erin LeCount
Erin demanded my attention in 2023 with "Mind the Gap" and primed me subconsciously for "Silver Spoon" that came out about a year later. She started posting clips of it (which I listened to over and over) and then released the full song.
I listen to it now and maintain composure, but not the first 10 times. The punch to the stomach line from "Silver Spoon" for me is "We're the product of love that we do not receive" and the bit about the reaction to spilling something.
She has recently released an EP "PAREIDOLIA" and it does not let you up for air either. It is a continuation of her relentless but delicate delivery of emotional damage. I also included "White Ferrari x I Know the End" and "Sweet Fruit" on the playlist.

Samia
My introduction to Samia was with "Pool" and "Is There Something In The Movies" from her 2020 album "The Baby". I was re-introduced to her later with a more pop-y "Amelia" and "Honey" from her 2023 album "Honey". I played "Amelia" a concerning amount of times and I listen to some form of Samia every week.
Recently, her Tiny Desk version of "Pool" exploded on TikTok and she released the audio on streaming platforms. I highly recommend it unless you've done your makeup recently. Good luck with the line "How long do I have left with my dog? Till I start forgetting shit?".
Her latest album, "Bloodless", features another one of my favorites: "Bovine Excision". I'm old but I'm not dead.

Griff
While we are screaming along to heart wrenching music in the car, we can't miss out on Griff. I didn't find out about Griff until a couple years ago but "Last Night's Mascara" and "Anything" are very much in the vein of this post. "And I hate how much that you took away, like my confidence was yours to take" will definitely hit home with quite a few people.

Charli XCX
I will definitely need a post solely for Charli XCX, but her latest masterpiece is the soundtrack to Wuthering Heights (we won't go into that or my unease with Jacob Elordi).
While I do appreciate the first track, this site is specifically for not hearing a man so be aware. I think it is worth it if you can get past the first half.
You should definitely experience the whole album, but my favorites are "Wall of Sound", "Dying for You" (the one you heard on TikTok for two weeks straight), and "Eyes of the World". "Eyes of the World" made me immediately think of 2010s and Twin Shadow, and then I saw it featured Sky Ferreira and it made sense.
We Did it Girl!
I'll let you recover from this for a bit and then snap you back to warm sunny days with the windows down on the next post. I promise. 💜
