This is girlyPopp, a brand new site for discovering music that's just getting started. I usually try to do everything myself, especially the web development part, but this time I'm taking a different approach and using someone else's tools and not getting stuck 50% through making a website from scratch.

I'm using Ghost for the website and a really cool managed hosting service for Ghost called Magic Pages. I also deviated even farther from my comfort zone and bought a theme for the first time in my life.

My plan is to start sharing music that I have discovered through various avenues (mostly TikTok at 1am) that makes me happy and promote small or upcoming artists. Hopefully I will also be able to built this to a point where I can raise funds to donate to artists to help them record, publish, and promote their music.

While there may be men in some of the bands I post, you won't hear from them. I will be only be sharing bands fronted by women. As someone that presents as a man, it may be weird to have a website written from an anti-man perspective, but at heart I'm one of the girls and have been as far back as I can remember. Its only recently I peeled back the childhood trauma and embraced it.

If you're not a woman, girly boy, or part of the LGBTQIA+ community or adjacent, you might not like a lot of what I post, but give it a chance and embrace your inner girlyPopp!
